Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Beatrice Stratton were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Preskenis, Pastor.

Serving as acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Ted Hajos and Francis Sausville.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the mass were “Here I am Lord,” “Wherever You Go,” “Be Not Afraid” and “In Paradisum.” Mrs. Stratton’s granddaughter Kristin Long offered the musical selection “Amazing Grace.”

The casket pall was placed on Beatrice’s casket by her children Richard Stratton, Diane Urfer, Beatrice Welch and Peter Stratton. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Beatrice Welch.

The Scriptural readings were offered by two granddaughters Carol Elstein and Kristin Long. The Offertory Gifts were presented by two of Mrs. Stratton’s grandchildren, Victoria Welch and Emily Welch. Words of remembrance were offered by Victoria Welch.

Serving as pall bearers were Thomas Zaffino, T.R. Paquin, Thomas Paquin, John Paquin, Robert Myers and her son-in-law Robert Welch. Honorary bearers from the Court of Saint Andrew Catholic Daughters of America were Mary Morrissey, Theresa Long, Louise Gauthier and Trudy Kinney.

The burial took place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery with Father Preskenis offering the committal prayers. A reception followed at the Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Parish Hall.

Mrs. Beatrice Stratton, 90, widow of Lewis E. Stratton died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at the home of her daughter Beatrice Welch in Bennington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
