Belva M. Babcock

1919-2015 CLARKSBURG Belva Madelina (Brookman) Babcock, 95, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at the North Adams Commons. She was born in Pownal, Vt. on Feb. 21, 1919 a daughter of the late Ronald and Ada (Bratcher) Brookman. She graduated from Drury High School in 1936. She was last employed at Hunter Outdoor Products, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband Frank A. Babcock Sr. whom she married Sept. 30, 1939 died on Nov. 12, 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Cook and her husband, Keith of Greenwich, N.Y. and one son, Frank A Babcock Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Bennington, Vt.; eight grandchildren, James Babcock, Lisa DeMarsico, Laurie Douglas, Heather Babcock, Heidi Marchand, Melodie Cook, Melissa Cook and Aaron Cook. 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law, Kristina Babcock, wife of John, and two brothers, James Brookman of Pownal, Vt. and David Brookman of Bennington, Vt. She was predeceased by one grandson, John Babcock who died in 2009; and one great-grandson, Spc. Michael R DeMarsico who was killed in Afghanistan in 2012; two brothers, Edward and Charles Brookman; and two sisters, Ellen Fosselman and Elizabeth Walker. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for Belva Babcock will take place Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for North Adams Commons Activities Fund or POPCARES through the funeral home.
