HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Bernard “Red Top” Davock, 68, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 peacefully at his residence, 5 Fredrick Place, North Greenbush.

He was born Jan. 31, 1936 in Hoosick Falls, the son of Frank and June (Corcoran) Davock. Bernard graduated in 1956 from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. He served in the Army in the 11th Armored Cavalry in Germany from 1958 to 1960 and received an honorable discharge. He worked for more than 40 years for Grand Union and retired as meat manager in Bennington, Vt. Mr. Davock was a devoted Red Sox fan as well as Cleveland Browns football fan. He also enjoyed all other sports. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his lifelong companion, Carol O’Connor of North Greenbush; three sons, Jeffrey of Mechanicville, Mark of Waterford, and Bernard and his wife Melissa of Hoosick Falls; and two daughters, Maureen Kemmet of Schuylerville and Denise Davock of Hoosick Falls. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Davock of Hoosick; two sisters, Jane Rourke of North Syracuse and Margaret (Peg) Crucett of Hoosick Falls; and 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer County Hospice through the funeral home.
