Obituary Condolences

NORTH BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Bernard J. Harris were held from Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Michael Demasi, retired pastor.

The organist was Louise Gauthier and the soloist was Mildred Pierce.

The Scriptural readings were offered by Kyle Harris, a grandson, and John Phelps, a son-in-law. The offertory gifts were presented by three granddaughters, Sarah, Hannah and Martha Phelps.

Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Harris’s grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Harris; three nephews, Thomas and Edward McGarry and Alan Klickner, and a family friend, Tim Marsh. Yvon Matte served as acolyte for the funeral Mass.

Burial took place in the family lot in Saint John’s Cemetery with Rev. Demasi offering the committal prayers.

Military honors were accorded Mr. Harris by Kenneth and William Lorette of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington, who folded the American flag and presented it to Mr. Harris’ son, Kenneth.

A reception followed at the home of Ken and Wendy Harris in North Bennington.

Mr. Bernard J. Harris a resident of Shaftsbury, died Monday Oct. 2, 2006, at home.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington.
