Bernie (Bun) Davis

1927-2010 ARLINGTON Bernie (Bun) M. Davis, 83, a longtime resident of Arlington, VT died Friday July 9, 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

He was born in Brattleboro, Vt. on June 16, 1927, son of the late Bernice W. and May Robinson Davis. He received his education at Burr ande Burton Seminary

A World War II veteran Mr. Davis served in the United States Navy.

He married the former Teresa Corey on September 11, 1948

Mr. Davis was a truck driver for many years

Mr. Davis was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #307. In earlier years Bernie was an accomplished skier and held the downhill speed record at Bromley Mountain for many years and also worked on the Bromley Mountain Ski Patrol .

Survivors include his wife Teresa Davis of Arlington; seven sons, Christopher Davis of Shaftsbury, John Davis (Kathy Sattterthwaite) of Arlington, Vt., Richard Davis of Arlington, Vt., Timothy Davis (Aimee Foster) of North Bennington, Mark Davis (Tara Kelleher) of Hebron, N.Y., Jeffrey Davis of Arlington, and Kevin Davis (Sherry King) of Pownal; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Sheila Rainer; brothers, Roy Davis of West Palm Beach, Fla., Robert Davis of Connecticut, Cecil Davis of Manchester, Vt.; and sisters, Dorothy Bushee of Florida and Madeline Hale of Connecticut.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from Saint Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington, Vt. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.

The burial with military honors will take place on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery in Bennington.

Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The Wake Service will be offered at 7:45 p.m.
