Bessie Adele Cavanagh BENNINGTON Bessie Adele Cavanagh, age 78, of Bennington Vt., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17th, 2011 surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her husband Major Edward J. Cavanagh, Jr., ret USMC; parents Mamie and Joseph Osti, brother Lester Osti, and son Lester Ingram. She is survived by five children, Lin Buck and husband Scott of Pownal Vt., Michael Cavanagh and Karen Griffin of Lunenburg, Mass., Laurie Mulhern and husband Michael of Bennington Vt., Christeen Jorno and husband Thomas of Palmetto, Fla., Kareen Cavanagh and Brad Clews of Millbury Mass.; grandchildren Shannon Durand and husband Tim, Kim Hall, Cpl. James Cavanagh (USMC) and wife Kristen, Brendan Cavanagh, Ian Buck, Avery Buck, William Buck, Amber Mulhern, Donovan Mulhern and Aiden Mulhern; great grandchildren Bradley Durand, Megan Durand, Christopher Wol, and Gracie Anne Cavanagh. Adele was a retired Health Benefits Advisor in the government's civil service at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, Mass. Adele touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and caring nature working in the medical field and as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman for nursing homes in the Bedford and Concord, Mass. areas. At the age of 52, she received a Bachelor's degree from Framingham State College while working full time. Adele was an accomplished artist and had many interests including traveling. She loved walks on the beach and spent a good deal of time at her homes by the sea in Plymouth, Mass., and Clearwater, Fla. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michaels Church in Bedford, Mass., on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 9AM with internment to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Visiting hours are private. Memorial gifts in Adele's memory may be made to Veteran's Canteen Service, through the office of the Mahar and Son funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
