McALLEN, TX. -- Betsy Jane Pohler was born on Aug. 13, 1947 in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. to George Peters and Flora C. (Freemyre) Peters. Betsy went to Cambridge Central School in Cambridge, N.Y. and is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College.

Betsy passed away Sept. 19, 2003.

She is survived by her father, George Peters of Eagle Bridge, N.Y.; sisters, Ann Wade of Albany, N.Y. and Joan Boisvenue of Fort Ann, N.Y; brother, Carlton Peters of Eagle Bridge; husband, Fred; sons, Peter and George, George’s wife, Erika and their two sons, Freddie and Aaron of McAllen; and many close and caring neighbors and friends.

Betsy was a loving mother, wife and Christian example to all who knew her. Betsy will always be remembered for her smile and loving nature. Betsy worked for North American Phillips in various management positions. In 1983, the family moved to Belmont, N.C., and worked for Gaston County Dyeing Machine Co. of Mt. Holly, N.C. as service manager.

Betsy moved to McAllen in the fall of 1996, with her family to assist her husband with Berea Missions in South Texas and Northern Mexico. Betsy and her family are members of First Free Will Baptist Church of Weslaco. The address is 1910 E. Frontage Rd., Weslaco, Texas.

A memorial services in Spanish and English was held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Weslaco by the Rev. Jeff Cates.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a contribution in Betsy’s name be made to Howard Munsey Berea Missions, 359 Panther Springs Rd., Morristown, TN 37814.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Kreidler Funeral Home Inc. of McAllen.
