BENNINGTON -- Betsy P. Colacicchi, 64, a resident of Division Place in Bennington, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family, after a long illness.

She was born in New York City on Oct. 4, 1941, the daughter of Frank S. and Hildegarde (Verdi) Baker. Betsy’s father was formerly a member of the music faculty at Bennington College.

Betsy attended Professional Children’s School in New York City and attended Bennington College. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy, and the School of American Ballet in New York City.

Betsy was a professional ballet dancer and was a New York based designer for Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman in New York.

Betsy was a member of the Thoreau Theatre Ensemble, Williamsport. Pa., and a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bennington.

Betsy is survived by her son, Lorenzo Colacicchi of Bennington; her brother, Timothy Verdi Baker of Oakland, Calif.; her sister, Mary Baker Carrithers of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Luca, Giada and Eleonora Colacicchi.

At the family’s request, funeral services will be private. There are no visiting hours. Memorial contributions in Betsy’s memory may be made to the Patient Necessity Fund of V.N.A. and Hospice, Southwestern Vermont Health Care, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, VT 05201.
