NORTH BENNINGTON -- Bettie Jane Lohrman, 82, a resident of Mechanic Street, North Bennington and formerly of West Dover and Stamford, Conn., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Mrs. Lohrman was born in Albert Lea, Minn. on Dec. 16, 1921; she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marie (Anderson) Wiley and had attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. Throughout her life she was very athletic and had enjoyed skiing, playing golf, tennis and bowling. She was active in many bridge clubs and newcomer organizations. She had been a Girl Scout leader and will be remembered as an “awesome mom.” She loved life and people.

Bettie leaves her daughter, Kristine Lohrman of Arlington, formerly of West Dover and Stamford, and Kristine’s companion Jerry Taylor of Arlington; she is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and four grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, John Lohrman, who died Sept. 11, 1992, and their son James Lohrman, who died in 1991. A service to remember the life of Bettie Lohrman will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington on Friday, June 11, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Bradford Clark, rector. Interment will be private, there are no calling hours. Should friends desire, gifts in memory of Mrs. Lohrman may be made to either the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, National Humane Society or Alzheimers Association in care of the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
