Betty Ann Gallant 1935 - 2011 SHAFTSBURY, VT Betty Ann Gallant, 75, wife of Richard J. Gallant, a resident of Hidden Valley Road, Shaftsbury, died Monday, February 7, 2011, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Born in Bennington July 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Merrill and Mary Mattison Cutler. Betty received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1954 graduate of Bennington High School. Dick and Betty were married at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington on June 9, 1956. In earlier years, Betty worked as the assistant librarian at Bennington Catholic High School. She later was employed for 33 years as secretary and dental assistant in the office of Dr. Charles Salem in Bennington. In addition to time spent with her family, Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing, parties and, in her younger years, cross country skiing. Survivors include her husband, Richard Gallant of Shaftsbury, a daughter, Dawn Warren of Londonderry, New Hampshire; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Debbie Gallant of Shaftsbury; three grandchildren, Brandon Gallant and his wife Erin of Springfield, Vermont, Neal Warren of Manchester, NH and Kelsey Warren of Boston, MA; a great-grandson, Bradley Gallant of Springfield, VT; a sister, Pauline Jacobs of Bennington; a brother, Merrill Cutler Jr. and his companion Waynolae of Frazeysburg, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Friday, February 11, 2011at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Should friends desire, contributions in Betty Ann Gallant's memory may be made to either the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or Second Chance Animal Shelter through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
