Betty Ann Myers

1950 - 2014 BENINGTON Betty Ann Myers, 64, a resident of Chapel Road died Sunday Dec. 21, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness. She was born in Cambridge, N.Y. Feb. 12, 1950. She was the daughter of the Albert Rodd and Dorothy (Bacon) Powers who survives. Betty received her education in Bennington. In earlier years Betty had been employed at Headstart, Jard and Bennington Brush. She had also worked part time as a waitress at Geannelis's Restaurant and the Northside Diner. From 1989 until November of 2013 Betty was employed at NSK from which she retired. She enjoyed crocheting and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, shopping and making slide shows. She loved her Siamese cats, her flower gardens and her pond. The family would like to give special thanks to Betty's mother, Dorothy, and her caregiver, Carrie Whitesell, for the special love and care that they provided Betty through her illness. Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Prouty and her husband, David, of Bennington; a son, Michael Myers of Bennington; three grandchildren, Michaela Myers, Kaitlyn Jordan and Nathan Prouty all of Bennington; her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Powers, of Shaftsbury, Vt.; her boyfriend, Harold "Butch" Beagle, of Bennington; her brothers and sisters, Fred Powers and his wife, Sue, of Burlington, Vt., Dorothy Allen and her husband, Ray, of North Bennington, Laurie Crandall and her husband, Jacky, of Searsburg, Vt., and John Powers of Shaftsbury, Vt.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two brothers and a sister, Arthur Rodd, William Rodd and Barbara Brunelle. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Friday Dec. 26 from 2 - 4 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Betty may be made to the Bennington Cancer Crusaders through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
