Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Beverly J. Hager were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2005, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor.

Organist was Donald McMahon and Soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the service were “How Great Thou Art” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” which were sung by a friend Dusty Dufresne and “Amazing Grace” and “Here I Am Lord,” which were sung by a great-niece, Laura Baskin.

The pall that draped Mrs. Hager’s casket was placed by four nephews, Christopher Shea, Timothy Hager, Christopher Baskin, Michael Shea and two cousins, Howard and Thomas Shea. A wooden cross was then placed on Mrs. Hagar’s casket by her husband Larry.

The first reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes was read by Mrs. Hagar’s brother, Edward Shea. The second reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians was offered by a niece, Elizabeth Shea Baskin. The offertory gifts were presented by an aunt, Constance Kuhn, and two cousins, Mary Rosen and Hazel Candib. A eulogy was offered by Mrs. Hager’s niece, Elizabeth Shea-Baskin.

Acolytes were Gerald Amadon, Barth Vander Els, John Reed and Francis Sausville.

Bearers were Christopher Shea, Timothy Hager, Christopher Baskin, Michael Shea and Howard and Thomas Shea. Honorary Bearers from the Catholic Daughters Court of Saint Andrew were Kay Allen, Barbara Baker, Anna Becker, Louise Gauthier, Trudy Kinney, Catherine Murphy, Mary Frances Murphy, Geraldine Sausville and Mary Van Derwerken.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Tuesday evening the prayer service was offered by the women from the Catholic Daughters Court Saint Andrew.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. A reception followed at the Grenwood Lodge in Woodford.

Mrs. Beverly Shea Hager, a life-long resident of Bennington, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her summer home in Woodford. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
