Bob D. Bingell 1947-2012 NORTH BENNINGTON, VT Bob D. Bingell, 64, a resident of Elm St. in North Bennington, Vt., died Friday January 27, 2012 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. He was born in Norwich, Conn., August 1, 1947. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Helvi Okerman Bingell. He received his education in Griswold, Conn., and was a graduate of Griswold High School. Bob married Nancy Myers August 17, 1997 at their home in North Bennington. Self employed as a carpenter. Bob was very handy. He was a jack of all trades, making and restoring furniture, mechanical work and carpentry. Bob owned Helvis in Hoosick, N.Y., with his son Bobby and they along with his other two sons were known for their pig roasting all over Vermont as well as his catering business. A very generous man, he would be the first to help someone in need. Bob served as President of the St. Stanislaw Society in Hoosick Falls and was a former member of the Elks in both Hoosick Falls, NY and Bennington. He enjoyed playing darts, loved to fish and play his guitar and sing. While in high school he formed his own band "Bobby B and The Catalina's". Survivors include his wife and best friend Nancy Myers of North Bennington. His children Jane Toner and her husband William of Webster, Mass., Bobby Bingell Jr. of Hopeville, Conn., Caryn Konrad of Cumming, Georgia, David Bingell and his wife Jenny of Hopeville, Conn., Danny Bingell and his wife Linda of Quincy, Mass. A stepson, Jonah Thiem and his wife Julie of Shaftsbury, Vt. Eight grandchildren, Michael and Mitchell Toner of Webster, Mass., Nathanial Konrad of Cumming, Georgia, Helvi and Kade Bingell of Hopeville, Conn., and Sienna, Oliver and Alura Thiem of Shaftsbury, Vt. Two sisters, Laverne Stetson and her husband Bill of Griswold, Conn., Judy Mioduszewski and her husband Peter of Voluntown, Conn., and a brother Jan Bingell of Thomson, Conn. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother Kenneth Bingell. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bob will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Tuesday January 31, 2012 at 3 p.m with Rev. Robin Greene officiating. Music and merriment will follow the service at the Polish Hall in Hoosick Falls, NY Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. If friends desire contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the Cancer Patient Support Program Emergency Fund through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT.
