Brian Heath Lake 1958-2011 BENNINGTON Brian Heath Lake, 52, a resident of Grove Street, died Thursday, February 03, 2011 at home. Brian resided with his caregiver, Bonnie McDonald . Born in Burlington, Vt., December 18, 1958, he was the son of the late George Lake and Evelyn (Atwood) Lake who survives. Brian resided at the Brandon Training School until the age of 26 when he moved to a UCS group home in Bennington. Since 1991 Brian has resided with his caregiver, Bonnie McDonald in Bennington. From 1992 to 1997 Brian was a volunteer at Crescent Manor Nursing Home. From 1997, Brian was employed at Hannaford Supermarket in Bennington until he retired due to ill health in 2010. Brian enjoyed traveling, plane rides and vacationing. He had made several trips to Walt Disney World in Orlando and had also traveled to Las Vegas and Southern California. He also enjoyed going to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts for coffee with his close companion Dick Watson Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Lake of Williston, Vt., two sisters and a brother, Kathleen Buck of Sheffield, Vt., Andrea Olgivie of Huntington, Vt., and Douglas Lake of Huntington; his caregivers, Bonnie McDonald and her son Michael and Jim Flood, all of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister Constance Lake and two nephews Brendan and Terrell Buck. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Monday February 7, 2011 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Bowles, pastor of the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Should friends desire memorial contributions in Brian H. Lake's memory may be made to either VNA and Hospice at Southwestern Vermont Health Care or to the UCS Developmental Dept. through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
