Bryan A. Scribner 1929-2010 MANCHESTER Bryan A. Scribner, 81, died peacefully Saturday December 4, 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont. Bryan was born in Poultney, Vermont on May 24, 1929 the son of Bryan W. and Alice (Ballard ) Scribner. His family moved many times during school years, coming to Tinmouth, Vermont in 1944. In 1956 after serving two years in the Army, he joined New England Telephone in Manchester where he retired after thirty years of service. Bryan was devoted to his family spending time camping, hunting, fishing, horse shows and boy scouts. Later he became a charter member of the first chapter in Vermont of the Good Sam Hunting Club and Gold Wing Road Riders and one of the first members of Manchester Rescue Squad. He also was an officer in several snowmobile clubs and enjoyed bluegrass festivals and motorcycle riding. All of these he shared with his best friend and wife Joyce of fifty-seven years, whom he married in August 1953. Carpentry was a second career and Bryan's passion, from which the family enjoys many pieces of his work. Bryan is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Cone, of Manchester Center, his son David Scribner and his wife Donna of Tinmouth, his daughter Susan Salo and her husband Peter of Bondville, his grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Scott, Julie and Jamie, two great grandchildren Nate and Ellie, his brother Raymond Scribner and his wife Mary Ann of West Pawlet, and his sister Charlotte Combs of Wells. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside funeral services for Bryan will be held Wednesday afternoon December 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the family lot in Wells Village Cemetery in Wells, Vermont. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening at Brewster Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
