Burton Campney Sr. 1927 - 2012 MANCHESTER CENTER Burton H. Campney Sr., 84, of Manchester Center, passed away at Rutland Regional Medical Center on Feb. 10, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 31, 1927, in Manchester to Franklin Burton Campney and Wilma Hoyt Campney. He attended Manchester Elementary School and Burr & Burton Seminary. Burton served in the Navy for several years during World War II. After many years of logging Burton worked as a skilled cabinet maker and his craftsmanship can be found in many of the historic homes and businesses in the Manchester, Dorset area. Burt was an avid hunter, trapper, gardener and outdoorsman. Burton was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. On Oct. 31st, 1943, he married his sweetheart, Rosa L. Jackson in Bennington. He is survived by his wife, Rosa; his four children, Burton H. Campney Jr. and wife, Lyn, daughter, Mary Lou Bowen, son Terry L Campney and Barbara May, and daughter, Christie Campney-Bristol and husband, Scott; five sisters, Mary Nemitz, Jean Sargood, Ann Hoyt, Rita Pash and Lucille Kapusta; one brother, Franklin "Bud" Campney; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents and Gramma "Cele" Campney, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Campney and Teddy Jzyk, and by Sister Catherine Campney, and son-in-law Carroll "Bint" Bowen. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be no calling hours or funeral services for Mr. Campney. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the: A Hunt Above, 3358 Ellis Rd, West, MS 39192, which is an organization that provides a hunting and fishing experience for handicapped children and children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the excellent care and compassion shown to Burton throughout his illness by the Staff at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
