Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mr. C. Mason Amadon were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Monday, March 1, 2004 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Robert Lozinmski c.s.c., pastor, and the Rev. Michael Demasi, chaplain of Knights of Columbus Council 307 of Bennington. Organist was Don McMahon and cantor was Ethan Smith. Hymns offered during the funeral mass included “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Supper Of The Lord” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”

The funeral pall that draped Mr. Amadon’s casket was placed by two of his nieces, Mary Stemp and Shirley Farnum. A wooden cross was than laid on the pall by Mary Stemp. The scriptural readings were offered by Mr. Leonard Anzivino and the offertory gifts were presented by Roger and Pauline White. Acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Valmore Clifford, Francis Sausville, and Gerald Amadon.

Bearers were Ray Farnum, Chris Barnhardt, John Carpenter, Steve, Mark and Tyler White.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral service. Prior to the prayer service members of Knights of Columbus Council 307 were led in the recitation of the rosary by Father Michael Demasi, chaplain. Attending the visitation were retired and current staff of the Bennington Post Office where Mr. Amadon had been employed as a letter carrier for 37 years.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Lozinski offering the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the World War II Navy veteran by Legionnaires; Joseph Krawczyk, and Ralph Brown. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

A reception for family and friends was held at the Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales parish center following the funeral service.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.

C. Mason Amadon, 89, a resident of Grandview Street in Bennington, died on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
