POWNAL -- Caleb M. Poole, 75, a resident of Schenkar Road in Pownal, and a former longtime resident of Farmington, Conn., died Monday, June 18, 2007, at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

He was born in Winsted, Conn., June 7, 1932. He was the son of the late Thomas Poole Sr and Gladys (White) LaPlant. He received his education in Torrington, Conn. Caleb joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and served with occupation forces in Japan from 1948 to 1952.

He married the former Dolores (Sawoska) on May 9, 1953.

Caleb was employed by Northeast Utilities in Connecticut as superintendent of buildings and maintenance. Mr. Poole retired in December of 1991

In 1984 Mr. and Mrs. Poole purchased land in Pownal on which they eventually built their home on. Mr. Poole was very handy and enjoyed working on his home and doing yard work. His family was his main interest. He was a member of the Pownal American Legion and the VFW Post 1332 in Bennington where he served as junior vice commander.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Poole of Pownal; two daughters, Diane Gaylord and her husband Robert of West Charleston and Irene Kellerstedt and her husband Tim of Burlington, Conn.; a son Edward D. Poole and his wife Denise of Unionville, Conn.; six grandchildren Karen Benson of Worcester, Mass., Kelly Mixon of West Charleston, Beth Kellerstedt of Torrington, Conn., Kurt Kellerstedt of Burlington, Conn., Kyle Poole of Unionville, Conn., and Jocelyn Dailey of Jacksonville, Fla; two great-grandchildren Emily Mixon of West Charleston, and Alexa Benson of Worcester, Mass.; two brothers Frances Poole and Thomas Poole both of Torrington, Conn.; three sisters Arlene Clark of Torrington, Dorothy Poole of Waterbury, Conn., and Henrietta Sidorok of Waterbury, Conn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother Donald Poole

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 4 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
