SALEM, N.Y. -- Calvin Young Losee, 75, of Salem, died Wednesday night, October 12, 2005 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after a long illness.

Mr. Losee was born in Dobbs Ferry, the son of the late Winfield and Mildred Young Losee. Cal graduated from Hastings on the Hudson High School and received his master’s degree from St. Lawrence University. He performed his undergraduate studies at Hope College in Holland, Mich. Cal served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a social studies teacher at the Salem Central School retiring after 35 years of service.

Cal was a member of the Francis J. Clark American Legion Post 812 in Salem and the Cambridge-Salem Lodge F&AM and was very involved in many teaching organizations.

Cal is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Evelyn Berens Losee; three children, Steven Losee and his wife Laurel and their family, Jeanette Losee and Linda Reece and her husband William Clapp and their family, all of Salem; and his brother, Dwight Losee of Williamstown, N.J.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in memory of Cal may be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 360, Salem, N.Y. 12865.
