Carol McCall Bayless Haubold Johnson

1918-2012 BENNINGTON, VT Carol McCall Bayless Haubold Johnson, 93, a resident of Village Lane in Bennington, passed away Monday September 3, 2012 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Carol was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 16, 1918 the daughter of William Bayless and Myra McCall. She spent most of her life in the Midwest mainly in McHenry and Rockford, Ill. Carol married Fred Haubold in 1940. He passed away in 1976. In 1998, Carol married Richard Johnson, who now resides in Peoria, Ill.

Carol and Dick met at an Arthur Murray Studio and Carol enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband well into her 80's. Carol also loved crafts and music. One of her favorite places was Door County, Wisconsin, where she loved to walk beside Lake Michigan.

Carol worked for forty years as a customer service representative for Bell Telephone/A.T.&T. in McHenry, Ill.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Karen Haubold Tibbetts and her husband Joel of Arlington, Vt., and Garda Haubold of Shushan, N.Y., a grandson Karl Witt and his wife B.J. of Wilton, N.H. and two great-grandchildren Caitlyn and Sean Witt.

Members of Carol's family wish to thank the staff and residents of Fillmore Pond, the staff at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and the staff at The Centers for Living and Rehabilition for their compassionate care for Carol.

A memorial gathering for Carol will be held by Carol's family at a future date.
