Carol J. Simon

1958 - 2014 WOODFORD Carol J. Simon, 55, a former resident of Woodford, and more recently of Main St. in Bennington died Monday June 23, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. She was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 10, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Francis Thomas McQueeney and Patricia Jane (Riordan) McQueeney. Carol received her education in Weyland, Mass., and was a graduate of Weyland High School. She later attended Skidmore College in Saratoga, N.Y. Carol married Philip Simon June 7, 1997 in Vermont. Carol had been employed as an early interventionist for children at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She had also been employed at Taddingers in Wilmington. Carol loved to cook, enjoyed gardening and Irish music and was a big James Taylor fan. Survivors include her husband, Philip Simon of North Adams, Mass.; her children, Kristin E. Simon, Jillian P. Simon and Patrick F. McQueeney, all of Bennington; two granddaughters, Grace K. McQueeney of Shaftsbury and Rielly M. McQueeney of Bennington; a brother, Robert F. McQueeney of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a sister, Janice McQueeney of Woonsocket, R.I. She is also survived my aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday June 26, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
