Carolyn S. Bruso

1932-2014 BENNINGTON Carolyn S. Bruso, age 81, a resident of N. Emperor Drive in Concord, N.H., and formerly a resident of Bennington, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home, following a long illness. She was born in Groveton, N.H., on July 8, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice Lauretta (Messer) Summers. She received her nursing degree from the Putnam Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Bennington. She married Francis Kinney, Sr who was killed in action during the Korean War. She later married Joseph Bruso who predeceased her. Carolyn has been employed at various nursing homes in the area, and most of her nursing took place at Crescent Manor Care Centers. She relocated to New Hampshire, and was employed at the State Hospital in Concord. Carolyn had been a member of the Bennington VFW Post #1332 Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, and doing crossword puzzles. Carolyn is survived by her children; Brenda Kinney, Francis Kinney, Steven P. Bruso, Crystal Dawn Morse, and Lisa Ann Sanborn. She leaves 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Ruth Covell and her husband Joseph, Frances McCrea, Jean Beaule, Raylene Provencher and Janet Gilman, and her brothers: William Summers and his wife Barbara, Francis Messer and his wife Phyllis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, especially her caregiver and niece, Karen Moody. She is predeceased by one son Thomas J. Bruso, two brothers, Bruce Summers, and Gordon Summers and one sister Joyce Metcalf. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, at 12:00 PM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington. Private interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00AM until the time of the service.
