Obituary Condolences

TROY, N.Y. -- Carolyn J. Chase Nichols, 72, formerly of Lansingburgh, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born, raised and educated in South Dorset, Vt., she moved to Troy in 1955. She was the daughter of Florence Martin Snow VerNooy of Londonderry, Vt., and the late Floyd P. Snow.

She worked as a health care aide at St. Coleman’s Home in Watervliet for several years.

Carolyn collected books and dolls, and loved Elvis Presley. She loved spending her time with all of her friends and family and her extended family at Van Rensselaer Manor.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a son, Raymond A. Chase (Eileen) of Wynantskill; three sisters, Constance Reed of Manchester, Vt., Barbara Gordon of Londonderry, and Mary Kerner of Arlington, Vt.; a brother, Clinton Snow of N.C.; two granddaughters, Jennie C. Chase of Wynantskill, and Rebecca L. Chase of Troy; several stepchildren; and nieces and nephews. Carolyn was predeceased by her brother, Floyd Snow Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, at the corner of 109th St. and Third Avenue.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in her family plot in Manchester at a later date.
