Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- M. Carolyn (Hart) Spencer, 64, a resident of Robinson Avenue in Bennington, died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born in Bennington on Jan. 10, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Carl and Jeanette (Natter) Hart. She received her education in Bennington schools. She has been employed at Energizer for 36 years as a machine operator, and she also ran the tool room for a few of those years. She has previously worked at BenMont Paper Co.

She married Steven Spencer in Bennington, he survives.

She enjoyed collecting knick-knacks and was an avid shopper. Her family and especially her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Besides her husband of Bennington, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Haley Spencer of Woodford, one daughter and son-in-law Shelley and Chris Sherman, Sr., of Bennington, and her sister and brother-in-law Christine and Steven Kelsey of Hoosatonic, Mass.

She leaves four grandchildren: C. J. Sherman and his wife, Amber, of Bennington, Kelsey Sherman of Bennington, Emily Spencer of Woodford and Mason Spencer of Woodford; her great granddaughter Meghan Sherman of Bennington; her niece Jennifer of Florida; and her nephew Francis of California.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington, with the Reverend Michael Morneault officiating.

Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
