DORSET -- Mrs. Catharine H. Kate Johnson, 51, wife of David W. Johnson, a resident of Farwell Lane, Dorset, died July 28, 2003 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a brief illness.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa. May 10, 1952 she was the daughter of Rear Admiral C.A. Mark Hill Jr. and Virginia G. (Farnsworth) Hill of McLean, Va. She received her education in various parts of the world and graduated from the Escola Americana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and received a B A. in theater and art at the University of Vermont. She also attended the University of Vermonts School of Nursing and Castleton State College School of Nursing.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were married in Washington, D.C. at The National Cathedral by the Rev. Cannon Glenn on June 21, 1975.

She and her husband owned and operated The Publyk House Restaurant in Bennington from 1979 to 1999.

Kate was an accomplished pianist and took great enjoyment in playing her 1876 Steinway Rosewood Concert Grand Piano. For 18 years she was devoted her little friends, her Siamese cats, Mimi and Foley.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in Dorset at a later date with the time to be announced.
