Catherine Briggs Obituary
Catherine "Cathy" Briggs

1933 - 2013 BENNINGTON Catherine "Cathy" Briggs, 79, wife of Randall "Ted" Briggs, a resident of Morgan Street, died peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home, following a short battle with cancer.

Born in Bennington on Dec. 22, 1933, she was the daughter of Earl and Edith (Jordan) Senecal. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Ted and Cathy were married on June 14, 1952, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.

She worked with the public all her life and made friends with about everyone she met. She was a person with charm and politeness who knew how to talk to people. She worked at The Village Nook in high school, and worked for "Pop" Pinsonneault who owned The Vermont Restaurant as a waitress, then worked for Poppa's son, Eddy Pinsonneault who owned The Vermont Steak House also as a waitress.

Later, she worked for the Treet Cleaners for 19 years. When it closed, she started working for The Bennington Potters in the linen sales department until just recently. Everyone loved her there, as she easily made many friends; as all the other friends she'd made throughout her lifetime. All will miss her.

She leaves behind two brothers, Earl and Chuck Senecal, both of Bennington; her husband of 60 years, Ted Briggs; three sons, Mark Briggs of New Hampshire, and Kevin and Daniel of Bennington; nine grandchildren, Nick, Laura, Tyler, Trever, Rachelle, Tiffany, Ted, Shawn, and Jeffrey, and seven great-grandchildren Wyatt, Rhyse, Brody, lan, Corbin, Bryson, and Genevieve, who will all deeply miss her.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 12 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family invites all to say good-bye. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Should friends desire, contributions in Cathy Briggs' memory may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
