Catherine Sorel 1954 - 2008 POWNAL Catherine Elizabeth Sorel, 54, of Center Street, died April 23, 2008 at The Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Paterson, N.J., on Jan. 6, 1954, daughter of the late Frank and Ada L. Clark Christmann, she received her education in the Clifton, N.J., schools. Cathy married David B. Sorel in Passaic on July 1, 1972 and they have resided in Pownal since that time. For the last 24 years they have owned and operated Dave's Country Store in North Petersburgh, N.Y. In earlier years, Cathy was employed at the Stanley Tools plant in Shaftsbury. Cathy's greatest pleasure was time spent with both her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. The family would like to especially thank Cathy's many close friends for their hours of loving care during her illness; Ann Betit, Tonya Cascione, Rose Churchill, Sonja Davey, Antoinette LeBarron, Diane Marchinowski, Dorothy Salmon, Gail Smith, and Janet White. Special recognition would like to be given to Cathy's daughter, Jennifer, and sister-in-law, Gisele Roper, for the extended love and care given. She leaves her husband, David B. Sorel; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kyle Stratton of Windham, Maine; sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Cheryl Sorel of Pownal, and Jamie R. and Holly Sorel of Bennington; four grandchildren, Anthony, Brett, Hannah and Jada Sorel; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Julie Christmann of Pownal and a half-brother, Clyde John Bennett of York, Pa., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cathy was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Christmann who died in 1975. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Community Alliance Church, Hill Road, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Sunday April 27, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Youngmann, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial will take place in the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery following the church service. Should friends desire, contributions in Catherine E.
