Obituary Condolences

Catherine L. "Kitty" Hittle DORSET Catherine Louise Hittle, known as Kitty to all, died suddenly on Monday Oct. 26th, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her immediate family. She was 82. Born in Aberdeen, S.D., and raised in the Mitchell, S.D. area, Kitty attended Yankton College before moving to Denver where she met her husband, Dick, whose career at Conoco moved them from New Mexico to Texas and finally to Old Greenwich, Conn. where they resided from 1960 until 1995. In Old Greenwich, Kitty was an active homemaker and volunteer for many charitable activities including the Merry-Go-Round Senior Center. Her house on Hendrie Drive was renowned for being a place for gatherings of all occasions. Having a home in Dorset since 1971 and loving the community, they moved there year round in 1995. Kitty was a beloved member of the greater Dorset community where she was a significant contributor to volunteer activities. As an active member of the United Church of Dorset, she was serving as a Deacon of the church and had been President of the Women's Fellowship, where she particularly enjoyed the Fellowship Quilting Group and its fund raising activities. Kitty was a long-time volunteer at the Southern Vermont Art Center, and a past Director of the Dorset Library. She was involved with the senior citizen residence, Equinox Terrace, where she conducted weekly trivia sessions with a devoted group of patrons, for 12 years. Whether in Old Greenwich or Vermont, many people fondly remember Kitty as an integral part of the community. She always had a warm cup of coffee for a daily stream of visitors, who stopped by for a kind word or "lively" discussion. Kitty will be sorely missed by her husband, Dick,; and her children, Ann-Louise, Woody, and Brad Hittle; her son-in-law, Timothy Constable,; her daughter-in-law, Renee Noto Hittle,; and her grandchildren, Catherine and Poppe Constable and Henry Hittle. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held at United Church of Dorset at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7th 2009. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to any of the following organizations: United Church of Dorset; The Dorset Nursing Association; The Southern Vermont Art Center, or the Manchester Music Festival, c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255. BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE in Manchester has been entrusted with the care of Kitty's funeral arrangements.
