BENNINGTON Catherine Shepard, 73 years old a resident of Pratt Street, born October 13th 1939 passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on November 9, 2012.

Catherine loved poetry and published a book entitled "A Garden of Verses, Friends & Family. She is survived by her brother Clifford Harwood and his wife Helen and their children, Edie and Clifford Burr of Black Creek North Carolina, her brother Roger Harwood and his wife Heidi and their children Emily, Abby and David of Burlington Vermont, her sister-in-law Janice Harwood and her son Seth of Kalleen, Texas, her daughter Deborah Shepard Dufur her husband Geoff and their children Madeline and Jamie Dufur of Port Charlotte, Florida. stepdaughter Vicki and Robin Shepard and their children.

She was preceded in death by her brother U.S. Air Force Captain Richard Harwood.

She attended Manchester elementary, Burr & Burton Seminary and Bates College. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution also the First Baptist Church, BPI and NAMI. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and remembered for her gentle and caring nature.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services for Catherine will be held Sunday evening November 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at The First Baptist Church in Bennington. Rev. Jerrod Hugenot will officiate. A visiting hour will take place at the church at 6 p.m., one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Rupert Cemetery with her brother Richard Harwood, and her parents Dr. Clifford B. Harwood and Senator Madeline Harwood.

The family has entrusted arrangements to the care of Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, Vermont.
