Cathrine K. (Lytle) LaRoche

September 10, 1944 November 2nd, 2013 BENNINGTON, VT Cathrine K. LaRoche, 69 years, died Saturday, November 2 from cancer. Kay was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Helen M. and Frank Lytle. She obtained her Registered Nurse degree from John Peter Smith School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. Kay enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in 1968. She served in the Army Nurse Corps in Nha Trang, Viet Nam from 1969 to 1970. She and her husband, Bernard LaRoche, raised their family in Bennington, Vermont where she worked as a student health nurse at Bennington College for thirty years. She enjoyed interacting with students from all over the world. Despite living in Vermont most of her life, she will always be a Texan. Kay loved traveling the country, watching her kids play sports, and caring for those who are often forgotten. She is survived by Bernie LaRoche, her husband of 40 years; her daughter, Tommi LaRoche; her son, Dain LaRoche and his wife Nataliya Tereshchenko; and her grandchildren, Anika and Elena LaRoche. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dale and Raymond Lytle. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Bennington, Vt. followed by Military Honors. A reception will be held following the ceremonies at the Parish Center. There are no visiting hours.
