SALEM, N.Y. -- Cathy Ann Brown, 49, of Smith Road, Salem, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

Cathy was born March 17, 1958, in Granville, the daughter of Robert and Betty Chadwick Slater of Salem. She graduated in 1976 from Salem Washington Academy and had worked for five years at S&T Paper Mill in Middle Falls and for the last seven years she had owned and operated Cathy Brown’s Sports in Salem.

Cathy attended the Salem United Methodist Church and was a member of the New York White Tail Posse Club of Salem, a member of the Buckmaster’s Club and was a 4-H instructor and taught 4-H shooting sports. Cathy loved deer hunting, motorcycle Riding and enjoyed being a DEC instructor for rifle and bow hunting. Cathy had the ability to teach people to hunt. She loved the outdoors.

Cathy was pre-deceased by her first husband, Garry Brown, who passed away May 17, 1999.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, George Millard, whom she married in October 2005; two daughters, Jennifer Brown of Granville and Sabrina Brown of Salem. She is also survived by two step-sons, Jesse Millard of Charlottesville, Va., and Travis Millard of Ticonderoga; two brothers, James Slater and his friend, Michelle Wren, of Greenwich and Robbin Slater and his wife Rose of Salem; sisters Sue Kyer and her husband Chris of North Richland Hills, Texas, Sandy Petteys and her husband Daniel of Cossayuna and Elana Andrews and her husband Richard of Salem. She is also survived by a grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at the Salem United Methodist Church, West Broadway, Salem with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem. Following the funeral services, everyone is welcome to join the family at the home of Cathy and George for a luncheon and to continue to share memories of Cathy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem.
