Charlene Fisk

1942-2010 WILLIAMSTOWN Charlene Kretzmer Fisk died May 17, 2010, in Williamstown, following a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born Sept. 4, 1942, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., to Albert T. and Doris Allen Kretzmer, Charlene enjoyed reading and writing poetry and was a published poet. She had a wonderful circle of friends who provided love, comfort and support, especially through her final months of illness.

Charlene leaves behind her husband of 39 years, Gordon S. Fisk Jr. She was the loving mother to Allen Fisk, Kenna Bressette and her fiancé, Jay Waterman, James Fisk and Stephen Fisk. She was grandmother to Jedediah, Joshua, Jaycee Bressette and Johnathan DiGennaro, James Jr., Bryan and Janessa Fisk and Kristina, Kateline, Sarah Fisk and their mother, Tracie; and great-grandmother to Kylee Bressette. She also leaves her cat, the beloved Baxter.

In her memory we publish this poem she wrote:

On days when wind bear subtle scents

And the sun plays tag with shadows,

I think of how you loved the spring.

How eagerly you searched for hints

Of buds that foretold flowering.

You suffered winter's barren cold,

Agreed that autumn had its charm

And sat through summer's heated glow

But yearned for robin's morning song.

It was in spring I let you go.
