Obituary Condolences

NORFOLK, Va. -- Charles Alfred Kipp Jr., 61, of the 11 block of Pascal Place, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2004. He is a native of Bennington, Vt. and was a resident of Norfolk since 1966. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country for six years in the Seabees and in communications. He later worked for the United States Civil Service in the capacity of chief metal inspector until his retirement. He most recently worked for Virginia Auto Rental Inc. as a car rental manager. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and a proud member of the Republican National Committee.

Survivors include his stepdaughter, Heather Schelling of Decatur, Ill.; his stepsons, Joseph R. Herman of Plant City, Fla., Tracy D. Herman of Norfolk, Kevin B. Herman of Williamsburg, Freddie L. Herman Sr. of Cheaspeake and Brian L. Smith of Germany; his sisters, Marylin Hopkins of Springfield, Vt. and Barbara Drew of North Carolina; and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Norfolk, on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., by the Rev. George Alfred Wray Jr.

Burial will be in the Albert Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.

Memorial donations may take the form of contributions to the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, children’s ministry fund.
