Obituary Condolences

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Charles Conrad Meyer died on April 4, 2006, at University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was 88.

Prior to his recent illness, Mr. Meyer resided on Taconic Lake in Grafton, N.Y., where he lived for more than 25 years.

He was a native of Louisville, Ky., and a 1935 graduate of du Pont Manual High School in Louisville. He served for four-and-a-half years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s Second Armored Division and as an intelligence officer for two years during World War II. He was the Northeast sales manager for Pittsburgh Steel based in Manhattan, N.Y., and served two years as the mayor of Cherrywood Village in Louisville. He was a mason, and throughout his life he was active in civic organizations.

His wife of more than 50 years, Elizabeth, died in 2000. He leaves two sons, Charles Meyer of Georgia and Robert Meyer of Los Angeles; four daughters, Kim Clark of Vermont, Lynn Tucker of Northborough, Melissa Meyer of Worcester and Jenny O’Neil of Petersham; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Meyer home on Taconic Lake on June 17.
