DANBY -- Brewster Funeral Service was filled Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 2005, for the funeral of Charles Crandall. Pastor Ralph Stone of the Danby Church conducted the service and offered readings of scripture. The funeral procession leading to Danby Cemetery was escorted by the Danby, Mt. Tabor Fire Department which made a pass in front of the fire station where a salute to their fallen comrade was held. Interment with full military honors was held in Danby (Scottsville) cemetery where Pastor Stone offered burial rites and committal prayers.

Serving as pallbearers were members of the Danby, Mt. Tabor Fire Department: Kenneth G. Abbott, Tracy Belden, Wendell O. Davison, Seth Beauregard, Donald Harrington and Donald Macheski. Standing beside the grave were firemen just arriving from active duty: Ron McClure, Kenneth Abbott, Daniel Garceau, Patrick Keyes, Linda Davison, Nancy Harrington and Marjorie Abbott. Military honors were accorded by members of the Harried Fowler VFW Post 6471, Manchester, which included rifle squad members Commander Steve Leach and Wink Roberts and flag folders Tom Hayes and Steve Byrne. The flag that draped the veteran’s casket was presented to Mr. Crandall’s son Corey by Steve Byrne. Taps was sounded by Carl Graves. A time of fellowship and refreshments was held at the Danby Masonic Hall following the service.

George Crandall, a resident of Brook Road in Danby, died Oct. 26, 2005, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Arrangements were under the care of Brewster Funeral Service 34 Park Place, Manchester Center, VT.
