Charles F. Lent Sr.

1927-2010 NEW WINDSOR, NY Charles F. Lent Sr., formerly of Buchanan, died peacefully amid his family at Veterans Nursing Home at Castle Point, N.Y.

Born in Buchanan on Oct. 4, 1927, he served in the Army in 1945 in the occupation of Japan at the end of World War II.

On Oct. 20, 1951, he married Mary Cox in Ossining, N.Y. He retired from General Motors assembly division in Tarrytown after 30 years of service. In his retirement years he enjoyed dealing in antiques where he would buy and sell at auctions.

He leaves his brother, Francis of San Antonio, Texas; his sister, Veronica of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and his seven children, Susan Laurelli of Warwick, R.I., Charles (Margaret) of Buchanan, N.Y., David of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Brian (Lisa) of Bennington, Vt., Robert (Linda) of Greenbush, N.Y., Timothy (Deborah) of Athens, N.Y., Mary Ellen Yantz of Wallkill, N.Y. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife in 1994.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Visitation will be held at the CORTLANDT FUNERAL HOME on Friday from 4-8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Christopher's Church in Buchanan, N.Y. on Saturday at 10 a.m. A private interment will be held at a later date.
