Charles "Al" Gordon 1934 - 2009 LAKE LAUDERDALE, N.Y. Charles A. "Al" Gordon, 74, died Sunday, April 5, 2009. He was the husband of Joan Potter Gordon. Born on Oct. 5, 1934, in Hamilton Square, N.J., he was the son of Elison R. and Catharine Hausser Gordon. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957 and then returned to New Jersey to farm. He also repaired farm equipment. Twenty years ago, the family moved to Cambridge, N.Y., and became the owners and managers of the Lake Lauderdale Campground. Al served on the Jackson Planning Board and the Shushan Covered Bridge Museum board, and was a member of the Campground Owners of New York. Besides his wife of 45 years, he leaves a son and daughter-in -law, Douglas G. and Joy Gordon of Shushan, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Alex Rich and Arek D. Gordon; a brother, Elison R. Gordon, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Granville; a sister, Carrie G. South of Shushan; an uncle, Edgar L.Gordon of Boca Raton, Fla., and several cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Friday, April 10, at TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, New Egypt, N.J., with burial following at Jacobstown Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Embury United Methodist Church, 41 East Main Street, Cambridge. The family requests memorial donations be made to either the Shushan Volunteer Fire Department, Shushan, NY 12873 or Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 52, Cambridge, NY 12816.
