Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Charles L. Macomber III, 60, a former resident of Bennington and more recently of Weems, Va. died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003 at his residence following a long illness.

Born in North Adams, Mass., Feb. 28, 1943, he was the son of Charles L. Macomber Jr. and the late Dorothy (Williams) Macomber. He received his education in the North Adams, Pownal and Hoosick Falls, N.Y. schools. Mr. Macomber served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

While living in Bennington Mr. Macomber was employed at National Hanger Company in North Bennington for many years.

Mr. Macomber married the former Lynne Pettibone in Bennington on June 17, 1993. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also was an avid bowler.

Survivors beside his wife include nine children, Jennifer Rodgers and her husband Jeff of Weems, Shawn Macomber, Sherri Macomber, Candace Macomber and Charles L. Macomber V, all of Bennington, Charles L. Macomber IV of Greenfield, Mass., Kathy Macomber of Burlington and Audrey and Shayla Macomber of New Mexico; eleven grandchildren; his father and step-mother, Charles Macomber Jr. and his wife Joyce of Eustis, Fla.; a brother, Craig Macomber of Colorado, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Macomber was predeceased by a son, Brandon Macomber, two grandchildren, Robert and Shauna Frost and a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Bruce Sharby.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Private burial services will take place at the convenience of the family.
