ARLINGTON -- Charles M. Tifft Jr., better known as “Junior,” 80, a resident of Old West Road died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at The Centers For Living and Rehabilitation with his family at his side.

Mr. Tifft was born in Rutland on May 25,1926, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Elsie (Butler) Tifft Sr., he received his education in Tinmouth, Salem, N.Y., and Weston. He was married to the former Eleanor Brothers in Rochester on Feb. 3, 1945, Mrs. Tifft died on Dec. 15,1996.

Mr. Tifft had worked at the former Polygraphic Co. in North Bennington for over 30 years. He had also worked at the Sunderland landfill and Hills Court in Manchester, which has since relocated to East Dorset.

He enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home, fishing and working on television sets, he had a passion for flying and was a member of the Flying Club in Manchester. He leaves his longtime friend and companion Beverly Grover of Arlington; a son, Robert Tifft of Spokane, Wash., a daughter, Brenda King of Arlington; three brothers Robert Tifft of Arlington and William Tifft and Francis Tifft both of Florida; a sister, Eleanor Perry of Athens; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, including nephews David, Simon and Travis Tifft.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Tifft, and his nephew, Trevor Tifft, who died in 1980.

Funeral services will be held at the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Dupuis, pastor of St. Margaret Mary’s Church, officiating.

Burial will take place in the family lot in the Danby Scottsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. when the family will be present.
