1944 - 2014 BENNINGTON Charles H. Metcalfe, 70, a resident of Oakes Street, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, surrounded by his family. Charles was born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. on Jan. 1, 1944, the son of the late Alexander and Thelma Elliot Metcalfe and attended local schools. Charles worked as an auto mechanic for Modern Motors in Bennington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, listening to country music, and spending time with family and friends. Charles is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Woodard, of Bennington, whom he married on April 21, 1979 in Bennington; children, Crystal Pierce and her husband, Jeffery, of Pownal, John Metcalfe and his wife, Eileen, of Las Vegas, Nev., James Metcalfe and his wife, Ellie, of North Bennington, Patricia Dewey and her husband, Robert, of Bennington, Sonya Metcalfe of Hoosick Falls, Angela Cannistraci and her husband, Anthony, of Bennington; brothers, Gordon Metcalfe and his wife, Ruth, of Hoosick Falls and Robert Metcalfe and his wife, Nancy, of Mechanicville, N.Y.; sisters, Charlotte Redden of Hoosick Falls, Alberta Tefft of Greenwich, N.Y., Thelma Tifft of Bennington, and Marion Wescott of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Willard Metcalfe and sisters, Patricia Colegrove, and Barbara Kramer. FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of the family, there are no formal funeral services.
