Obituary Condolences

NORTH POWNAL -- Funeral services for Charles W. Tornabene Jr. were held from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in North Pownal, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James T. Preskenis, csc, and the Rev. Vincent J. Coppola, csc.

The organist was Don McMahon and the soloist was Reatha Williams. Musical selections offered during the mass were “Here I Am Lord,” “Pescador de Hombres,” “Be Not Afraid,” “We Gather Together” and “Ave Maria.”

The casket pall was placed on Mr. Tornabene’s casket by his granddaughters Kelly Kearns and Lee Howard. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Charles’ daughter, Charleene Berard. The Scriptural readings were offered by Mr. Tornabene’s daughterc Catherine Skorupski. The offertory gifts were presented by two grandsons, Joel Howard Jr. and Trever Howard. A eulogy was offered by a nephew John Michael Shields. Serving as Eucharistic ministers were Kathleen Jelley and Eleanor LaBonte. Acolytes were Francis Sausville and Leonard Anzivino.

Serving as pall bearers were Trever Howard, Joel Howard, Myles Campbell, Bob Colombie, John Kearns and Joseph Tornabene.

Serving as acolytes were Leonard Anzivino and Francis Sausville. Mr. Tornabene’s great grandson Keegan Campbell was an altar server.

The burial took place in the family in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal, with Father Preskenis offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the service at the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Parish Center. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

Charles W. Tornabene Jr., a resident of Niles Road, Pownal, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
