Obituary Condolences

WEST DOVER -- Charlie A. Betit Jr., 52, of West Dover, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Readsboro on April 17, 1952, the son of Charlie A. and Leona Tower Betit Sr., attended local schools and graduated from Whitingham High School. Through the 1970s and 1980s, Charlie owned and operated his own painting company. He worked at several area restaurants, including Fennesey’s Deacons Den and the Dover Forge, where he was the homemade pasta maker.

Charlie was a Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching them win the World Series. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, but most of all, Charlie was a dedicated family man who was always supportive of others.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sharon Betit of West Dover; his mother, Leona Jones of Greenfield, Mass.; a son, Shawn L. Betit of West Dover; one daughter, Carol Betit Holland of Wilmington and her husband Jerome Holland; two brothers, Roland and his wife Betty Betit of Wilmington and Albert Betit and his companion Yvonne Aldrich of Wilmington; five sisters, Leona and her husband Ron Spencer of Shelburne Falls, Mass., Linda and her husband Russ Weber of Charlemont, Mass., Catherine Tobey and her companion Bill Dane of East Dover, Bernadette and her husband Jackie Whitney of Erving, Mass. and Brenda Betit and her companion Don Holton of Wilmington; one grandchild, Margaret Rose Holland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Charlie A. Betit Sr., who died in 1981.

Funeral services for Mr. Betit will be held Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at Covey and Allen Funeral Home, East Main Street, Wilmington. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sawdaga Cemetery in Whitingham. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday evening, Dec. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Mr. Betit’s memory may be made to his wife Sharon, c/o Covey and Allen Funeral Home, P.O.
