Charlotte J. Norse 1932-2010 MANCHESTER CENTER Charlotte J. Norse, 78, a resident of Manchester Center, Vt., died on December 4, 2010 surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born November 14, 1932 in Londonderry, Vt., the daughter of James and Sarah (Lent) Wilkins. She graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1950 and married LeRoy Norse on April 12, 1952. Together they raised four children. She worked as a waitress and chambermaid at Bromley House and Johnny Seesaws in Peru, Vt. She enjoyed interacting with the community, driving a school bus and delivering mail. In her later years, she worked as a registrar at Rutland Regional Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Charlotte also enjoyed working at Ottaquechee Country Store with her family. Some of her favorite things to do were going to the horse races, playing bingo and going to the casinos. Charlotte was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rutland Post 31, she held the position of Unit President in 1955-1997 and was 4th District President 1999-2000. She always treasured time spent with her family including most recently playing with her great grandchildren. Charlotte is survived by her four children, Gayle Otis and her husband Michael of Maidstone, Vermont, Dale Norse and his wife Madeleine of Colchester, Vt., Wanda Stockman and her husband Dale of Ascutney, Vt., and Arnold Norse and his wife Lisa of Brattleboro, Vt., six grandchildren, Brian Stockman, Tracy Adams and husband Eric, Randy and Chelsea Otis, Nicole Cusson and husband Mark, Michelle LeClair and husband Ben and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Norse is also survive by three sisters, Myretta Westine of Chester, Vt., Ida Beauregard of Mount Tabor, Vt., and Dorothy Daley of Largo, Fla. She was pre-deceased by her husband LeRoy Norse, her parents, three brothers James, Ken and Jack Wilkins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Charlotte will be held Friday December 10, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Peru Congregational Church in Peru, Vermont. There are no visiting hours.
