Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- A memorial service celebrating the life of Charlotte Stannard Brooks was held on Wednesday at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert.

The pastor of the church, the Rev. Dr. James H. Grey, officiated. Rev. Grey shared words of prayer as well his own memories and read a poem he wrote in her memory, Gerrit Kouwenhoven read a special prayer and Alex Grey read “Flanders Fields.” Jane Wood served as organist, playing such hymns as “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Native American “Amazing Grace” by Rita Coolige, Laura Satterfield and Priscilla Collidge was played from their CD “Walela.” Members of the congregation also shared some of their personal memories of Charlotte. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Jack and Jeanne Clark, Robert and Gail Hopkins, John and Fran Kardas, Gerrit and Ellie Kouwenhoven, Bill and Mary McFall, Ken and Arlene Seddon, Cap and Millie Smith, Bob and Alison Stannard, and Dennis and Marge Sverduk.

Charlotte Brooks a lifelong resident of Dorset and wife of the late Peter and mother of the late Patience, died on May 3. She was 74 years old. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester.
