Charlotte Weber Harrington

Obituary Condolences

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Charlotte Weber Harrington, 83, died suddenly on March 27, 2006, at Glens Falls Hospital. She was the wife of Sharon W. “Shank” Harrington.

Born Aug. 5, 1922, in White Creek, she was the daughter of Frank and Samantha Young Weber. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Hoosick Falls and graduated from Cambridge Union School. On Sept. 23, 1940, she and “Shank” were married.

Charlotte worked in several of the local industries as a young woman and became a full-time homemaker after the children were born. She loved to clean house, do laundry and hang the clothes outdoors - she refused to have an electric clothes dryer. Consequentially, she had the cleanest house, the brightest clothes and the most sparkling white sneakers in town.

She is predeceased by a son, Michael F. Harrington; a grandson, Michael F. Harrington Jr.; and nine siblings, Ida Harwood, Frank Weber, Viola Gates, Beatrice Gates, Barbara Mooney, Catherine Potter, Ernest Weber and Ruth Carroll.

Besides her husband of 64 years, she is survived by three children, Sharon W. “Sonny” Harrington Jr. of Cambridge, Raymond C. Harrington, and his wife, Diana Harrington, of Eagle Bridge, and Charlene and her husband, Michael Nolan, of Schuylerville; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Harrington of Cambridge; a sister, Patricia Kelly of Bennington; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, March 30, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge. A memorial service conducted by Dorothy Sokol of St. Patrick’s Church will begin at 7 p.m. Please bring your memories of Charlotte to share.

The family requests memorial donations be made to either the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 52, Cambridge, NY 12816.

Charlotte was known for her incredible memory and her love of life. She will be greatly missed.
