Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Charmaine LaBarge DeCoigne, 71, a resident of Hicks Avenue, Bennington and a former resident of Pownal, died Tuesday May 4, 2004 at the Crescent Manor Care Center following a long illness.

She was born in Kingston, N.Y. on Dec. 26, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Philomene (Chenaille) LaBarge. She received her education in the local schools.

Charmaine married George L. DeCoigne on Aug. 18, 1951 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.

In earlier years she was employed at several local companies including EZ Mills and Thomson Manufacturing Co.

Charmaine enjoyed camping and fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband George L. DeCoigne of Bennington; two daughters, Cynthia Howard and her husband Joel of Newark, Brenda Hart of Bennington; a son, Randall DeCoigne of East Burke; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward LaBarge of Georgia; six sisters, Helen Bisson and Irene Jones both of Bennington, Marcelleine Piekos of Lee, Mass., Pauline Frost of Sandgate, Philomene Pratt of Swanton, and Mary Bratcher of Pownal; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert LaBarge.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charmaine will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, May 7, 2004 at 5 p.m.
