HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Cheryl Catherine (Shepard) Grover, 53, a resident of Church Street in Hoosick Falls, died on Monday evening, June 14, 2004 at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City following a long illness.

She was born in Bennington on March 18, 1953 and was the daughter of Philip and Wilma (Bacon) Shepard. She attended local schools in Bennington. She is a member of the Eagles Lodge in Hoosick Falls.

Her interests included playing cards, especially poker and pitch. She enjoyed time with her family and friends. She is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Karen A. Smith of Bennington, Susan and Lindon “Sonnie” Bourtell of Bennington and Barbara J. Shepard of Bennington. Mrs. Grover is survived by one brother, Joseph M. Shepard, also of Bennington. She leaves six nieces, Nicole Y. Saunders, Raechel E. Shepard, Danielle M. Eschelbach, Kimberly A. Smith, Lakiesha A. Shepard and Tiffany J. Blair; one nephew, Randy J. Blair; one special aunt, Joyce Newton; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. Mrs. Grover has one great-niece, Kourtney M. Saunders.

Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon, June 21, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Bauscher officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
