Chester L. Phillips, Sr.

1935 - 2015 DORSET Chester L. Phillips, Sr., 79, a resident of Peace Street passed away April 17, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Chet was born in Granville, N.Y. on Dec. 25, 1935 the son of Charles and Bertha (Kelly) Phillips and attended local school. Chet drove a school bus for Dorset Schools for over thirty years. Previous to that he worked on a farm and for J.K. Adams before owning and operating a gas station and grocery store. Chet was an avid hunter and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. He loved animals especially horses and Dalmatian dogs. He enjoyed listening to country and western music and cherished times spent with his family and friends. Chet is survived by his son, Chester L. Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Janet, of North Bennington; step-daughter, Cindy Coyne of Pownal; brother, Donald Phillips and his wife, Rosetta, of Danby; sisters, Mary Black and her husband, Robert, of Ashuelot, N.H., and Barbara Hollister of Bennington; grandchildren, Jillian, Tabatha, and Linda Phillips; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James Phillips; and brother, Erwin Phillips. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 22, at 12 noon at BREWSTER SHEA FUNERAL SERVICE 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vt. Interment will follow in the family lot in West Pawlet Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. - 12 noon. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Chet's memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont.
