Obituary Condolences

Christina Tenentes

1917-2009 BENNINGTON Christina Tenentes died Sunday, Nov 29, 2009 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington at the age of 92.

She was born in New York City on Aug. 15, 1917, to Greek immigrants, Theoni and Georgios Patouhas.

She married Athan "Tommy" Tenentes on Apr. 28, 1946, at SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. She and Tommy raised three children while living in Brooklyn, N.Y.

They moved to Cliffside Park, N.J. in the 1970's where Christina continued to live after the death of her beloved husband on Nov. 30, 1987.

Christina moved in May 2005, to Vermont where she lived with her son, Alexander. Two years later she moved to CLR where she resided until her death.

Pride in her Greek heritage, adherence to her Orthodox Christian faith, and her devotion to her family were exemplary.

The progressive dementia that claimed her may have stilled the family matriarch, but never dimmered the radiance always evident in her face, and her spirit.

Christina leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Evanthia and Ronald Corrado of Secaucus, N.J.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Athan and Diane Tenentes of Saddle Brook, N.J.; and son, Dr. Alexander Athan Tenentes of North Bennington; her grandchildren, Lee Corrado of Seacaucus, Chrysanthe Tenenetes of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gregory Tenentes of Washington DC and Timothy Tenentes of Oneonta, N.Y. She leaves her sister, Stella Dietrich of Florida; and sisters-in-law, Amelia Tenentes, Mary Pallas and Ethel Tenentes, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families.
