Obituary Condolences

BONDVILLE -- Christoph F. Schachinger, 60, of Kendall Farm Road in Bondville, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at his home.

He was born in Vienna, Austria on Oct. 17, 1944, the son of Herbert and Gretel Schachinger. Christoph lived in Montreal, Canada, and then attended and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester.

He graduated from hotel/restaurant school in Bad-Reichenhall, Germany, and then served in the U.S. Army.

He worked for many years in the hotel industry, at the Hyatt Regency in Houston, the Sugarbush Inn and the Equinox Hotel.

He assisted his parents in management of the Liftline Lodge in both the 1960s and the 1980s and had been most recently employed as the accountant for Bennington Iron Works for the past eight years.

Christoph is survived by his father, Herbert Schachinger; his wife of 28 years, Nancy; his son, Christian Schachinger, his wife Beth and their two children, Alexander and John Schachinger of Long Island, N.Y.; his daughter, Kira Schachinger, currently attending the University of Rochester; and many dear relatives in Austria and in Montreal.

Christoph was an unassuming man; a decent, gentle and kind man who felt blessed to live in his beloved state of Vermont. He was a good soul. He will be deeply and forever missed by his family, his friends and his co-workers.

Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, in the family lot in Winhall Cemetery.
